Summary

With so many different TV and movie streaming platforms, I’m often frustrated by varying user experiences and lack of new content notifications.

I set out to solve that problem with Streamr – the one-stop shop for online TV and movie streaming content.

Why create a new app for streaming content?

Driving Streamr is my theory that creating a user-friendly app that consolidates content from multiple streaming services in one place would reduce the frustration of switching between services to discover new TV shows and movies.

How did I ideate and create Streamr?

I conducted user and market research first. Market research revealed that there were two similar products in existence, which indicated that there was potential for this product to work.

From the user survey, 65% of users said they would sign up for a streaming consolidation service. Survey respondents also identified three main frustrations such services must solve:

  1. Difficulty switching between different streaming service apps

  2. Annoyance navigating bulky, inconsistent user interfaces

  3. Lack of convenient content search or filtering ability

Based on this information, I created wireframes and high-fidelity designs in Figma for Streamr’s main screens.

Results

Streamr was designed as a case study while pursuing my Master’s in User Experience at ASU.
